Across many communities, both in the USA as well as other countries, CLTs are working to enhance economic resilience for CLT homeowners and the broader neighborhood. CLTs provide wealth-building opportunities for prospective homebuyers and can also help bridge the racial wealth gap. This is achieved by offering low-income homebuyers the opportunity to buy affordable housing and share in a percentage of the equity generated by the appreciation in the value of the home. The remaining equity is shared with the CLT to maintain the property and build new CLT-owned housing.
